#EndBadGovernance Protesters Hit Lagos Streets on Democracy Day

Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, joined #EndBadGovernance protesters on the streets of Lagos on Thursday as demonstrators marked Democracy Day with renewed calls for improved governance and national reforms.

The protesters, carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, expressed concerns over rising insecurity, economic hardship, hunger, and the increasing cost of living affecting millions of Nigerians.

Addressing participants during the demonstration, Falana reiterated the constitutional rights of citizens to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression, stressing that democracy thrives when people can openly demand accountability from their leaders without fear or intimidation.

The protesters called on the Federal Government to take urgent steps to address insecurity across the country, reduce the burden of economic hardship on citizens, create employment opportunities, and implement policies that would improve living conditions.

They also urged authorities to strengthen democratic institutions and ensure that the voices of ordinary Nigerians are reflected in governance and public policy decisions.

The Democracy Day protest in Lagos remained largely peaceful, with participants insisting that their demands were aimed at promoting a more secure, equitable, and prosperous Nigeria.

CDA News Nigeria understands that similar demonstrations were held in other parts of the country, reflecting growing public concerns over the nation’s socio-economic challenges.
