ABUJA – The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared its doors wide open to all Nigerians wishing to join its fold. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, made this declaration while addressing the recent influx of high-profile defections across the country.
Speaking on a television programme on Monday, Morka stated, “We are open to receiving any Nigerian who wishes to join our party… as many that would come, we have room to welcome him to our party.” He emphasized that new members are joining voluntarily and without coercion, citing the recent decision of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to defect from the NNPP.
The statement comes amid a major wave of political realignments, most notably in Kano State where Governor Yusuf and 21 members of the State House of Assembly have recently moved to the APC. Morka dismissed notions of the party cajoling anyone, insisting that leaders are making their own “voluntary” decisions based on the success of the President’s policies.
“President Tinubu has been remarkably successful… it’s a new dawn in our country, you can see that things are remarkably successful,” Morka asserted, framing the defections as an endorsement of the administration’s performance. The party’s message is a clear signal of its intent to consolidate power ahead of the next electoral cycle.
