The Secretary-General of the Southeast Young Leaders Consultative Forum, Ms. Augustina Odor, has publicly lauded the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, following the inspection and commissioning of a critical road project in his constituency.
The project, the 5.5km Ozuitem-Uzuakoli (Elugwu Mba) Road, is a vital link connecting the communities of Uzuakoli and Item in Bende LGA. Historically neglected, the road had last received government attention in 1981 under the administration of former Imo State Governor Sam Mbakwe, prior to the creation of Abia State.
In her commendation, Ms. Odor described the newly reconstructed road as “looking like a road to heaven” and declared it the best road in Abia State. She emphasized that by facilitating the project, Kalu has given his people “a new stress-free life” and demonstrated a deep understanding of their needs.
“No governor nor government has touched it since 1981. Today, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu has attracted its reconstruction, showing he has the interest of his people at heart,” Odor stated.
The project is seen as a major infrastructural milestone for the rural communities, significantly easing transportation and economic activity. It underscores the deputy speaker’s focus on delivering tangible dividends of democracy to his constituents.
