APC Slams Turaki Over ‘Reckless’ Call For Foreign Intervention In Nigeria

ABUJA – The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned former Minister Kabiru Turaki for what it describes as a “reckless and unpatriotic” call for foreign intervention in Nigeria’s internal political affairs.

The APC’s reaction came through a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Wednesday, following Turaki’s recent appeal for international mediation in the country’s political matters.

Morka described Turaki’s call as “a desperate move by a drowning politician” who is attempting to internationalize Nigeria’s domestic political processes.

“It is utterly irresponsible for any Nigerian, particularly someone who has held high public office, to invite foreign intervention in our internal affairs. This is a blatant assault on our national sovereignty and democratic values,” the APC statement read.

The ruling party emphasized that Nigeria’s democracy is mature enough to resolve its political challenges without external interference, noting that the country has robust institutions capable of handling political disputes.

Turaki, a prominent member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had reportedly called for international attention to what he described as Nigeria’s “deepening political crisis” during his faction’s recent activities.

The APC warned that such calls could undermine national security and damage Nigeria’s international reputation, urging political actors to always prioritize national interest in their engagements.
