ABUJA – Vice President Kashim Shettima has declared that Nigeria’s true wealth lies in its human capital rather than petroleum resources, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to developing its people amid ongoing economic transitions.
The Vice President made this assertion on Wednesday during his visit to Kebbi State, where he reassured parents of the abducted schoolgirls of the federal government’s determination to secure their safe return.
“Our greatest resource has never been oil beneath our soil, but the brilliant minds and resilient spirit of our people. This is the foundation upon which we are building a new Nigeria,” Shettima stated during his address.
The Vice President’s comments come as Nigeria continues to diversify its economy away from oil dependence, with increased focus on education, technology, and human capacity development.
Shettima emphasized that the current administration’s policies are designed to harness the potential of Nigeria’s youthful population, describing them as “the nation’s most valuable asset.”
During his Kebbi visit, the Vice President also met with state officials and security commanders, reinforcing the government’s commitment to protecting all citizens and ensuring a secure environment for learning and economic activities.
