Prison Warders in Kano Arrest Suspect Smuggling Drugs Hidden in Bread

A 20-year-old suspect, Muhammad Kabir Tishama, has been arrested by prison warders in Kano for attempting to smuggle illicit drugs concealed inside a loaf of bread to an inmate.

The arrest took place when inmates from the Goron Dutse Custodial Centre were being escorted to the Kano High Court. Vigilant officers discovered substances suspected to be Indian hemp hidden within the bread, intended for an inmate during court proceedings.

Spokesperson Musbahu Lawan confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect has been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for investigation and prosecution.

The Controller of Corrections commended the officers for their alertness and reaffirmed the service’s commitment to maintaining secure and drug-free custodial facilities.
