Apprehension in Kogi Poly as Lecturer Dies in Class

LOKOJA, NIGERIA – There is palpable apprehension at the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, following the sudden death of a lecturer who collapsed and died while lecturing in class.

The lecturer, whose identity has been withheld pending notification of family, was said to have been taking a class when he suddenly slumped. Colleagues and students rushed to his aid and he was immediately taken to the institution’s health center, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.

The cause of death has not yet been officially disclosed. However, sources close to the institution suggested the lecturer may have suffered a cardiac arrest.

The management of Kogi State Polytechnic has confirmed the incident and expressed deep sadness over the loss. In a statement, the institution described the deceased as a dedicated and committed staff member.

“We are deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident. The entire Polytechnic community mourns this painful loss,” the statement read.

The institution has since suspended lectures in the affected department pending the conclusion of arrangements for the burial.
