IWD: Rep Sam Onuigbo Celebrates His Beautiful Wife Pastor Dame Princess Onuigbo and Nigerian Women On International Women’s Day 2026

ABUJA, NIGERIA — Former federal lawmaker and South East representative on the Governing Board of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Rep Sam Onuigbo, has joined the global community to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026, paying a special tribute to his beautiful wife, Pastor Dame Princess Chinyere Onuigbo, while also hailing the resilience and sacrifices of all Nigerian women.

In a heartfelt message personally signed and released on Sunday, the respected APC chieftain described his wife as a pillar of strength, a devoted partner, and an inspiring example of the grace and virtue that define Nigerian womanhood.

“To my dearest wife, Pastor Dame Princess Chinyere Onuigbo: you are my greatest blessing, my strongest support, and my most faithful companion. Your love, prayers, and unwavering commitment to our family have been the foundation upon which all my achievements rest. On this International Women’s Day, I celebrate you and thank Almighty God for bringing you into my life,” Onuigbo wrote.

Rep Onuigbo, who represented Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2023 and served as Chairman of the House Committee on Climate Change, extended his tribute to all Nigerian women across the nation.

He acknowledged their indispensable contributions as mothers, daughters, sisters, leaders, and nation-builders who continue to shape the country’s destiny.

“Nigerian women are the backbone of our families, our communities, and our nation. From the farms to the markets, from classrooms to hospital wards, from corporate boardrooms to legislative chambers — women are making invaluable contributions every single day. Your resilience in the face of adversity, your sacrifices for the sake of loved ones, and your determination to build a better Nigeria are nothing short of extraordinary,” he stated.

The statesman, who sponsored Nigeria’s Climate Change Bill that was signed into law in November 2021, specifically acknowledged women in rural communities, noting that they bear the heaviest burdens yet often receive the least recognition

Onuigbo called on governments at all levels to prioritize policies that protect women’s rights, ensure their safety, and create opportunities for economic empowerment and political participation.

“As we celebrate today, let us remember that the struggle for gender equality is far from over. We must accelerate action to break down barriers, end violence against women, and create a Nigeria where every girl can dream without limits and every woman can thrive without fear,” Onuigbo added.

The former lawmaker also commended the contributions of women in the North East Development Commission and other federal agencies, recognizing their role in driving the commission’s mandate of rebuilding and stabilizing the North East region.

International Women’s Day 2026 is celebrated under the global theme “Accelerate Action,” focusing on advancing gender equality and empowering women and girls worldwide.
