Assault On 50-Year-Old Woman Sparks Outrage In Imo State Community

OWERRI NORTH – A severe physical assault on 50-year-old Ndidi Agu has triggered widespread condemnation after the woman was allegedly slammed into a wall by a man identified as Kachi (surname believed to be Njoku) in Emekuku community, Imo State.

The incident, which occurred in Umuakaliukwu kindred, Uboegbelu in Azaraubo, Emekuku, has prompted calls for justice from community members and human rights advocates.

According to sources, the victim is a caregiver to her 90-year-old mother and resides in her maternal home at Onyeuwaoma’s compound, opposite Konyeaso’s compound in Ezeogba, Emekuku.

The alleged perpetrator, Kachi, is reported to be a block moulder who also works at the Nkwo-Emeke motor park in Owerri North Local Government Area.

Community members have launched a social media campaign to draw attention to the case, urging human rights organizations and the Inspector General of Police to intervene.

“Let’s share this until it gets to human rights activists and NGOs who can help get justice for this poor woman,” read one of the circulated messages.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about violence against women and the vulnerability of elderly caregivers in Nigerian communities.
