WARRI – Police in Delta State have arrested seven suspected kidnappers and rescued three male victims during a operation in Ubeji Community, Warri South Local Government Area.
The arrest followed a distress call received on Thursday by the Divisional Police Officer of Ekpan Division, CSP Labe Joseph, regarding an abduction behind the Ubeji Gas Plant.
Police spokesman SP Bright Edafe confirmed that upon arrival at the scene, the suspects fled into an abandoned poultry farm but were apprehended after police cordoned off the area.
Preliminary investigation revealed the victims were abducted from a dredging site at Ubeji and transported across a river before their captors contacted families with ransom demands and death threats.
The rescued victims have been reunited with their families while police continue efforts to arrest other fleeing gang members.
