The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended its two-week warning strike effective immediately.
The union’s National President, Professor Chris Piwuna, announced the decision following a National Executive Council meeting and “renewed commitments” from the Federal Government, facilitated by the Senate.
The strike, which began on October 13, was over unresolved issues from the 2009 FGN/ASUU Agreement, including withheld salaries and university revitalization funds.
Professor Piwuna cautioned that the suspension is conditional. He declared that should the government fail to address the union’s demands within one month, ASUU will not hesitate to resume industrial action.
