African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has unveiled his Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general election, naming Kashim Ibrahim-Imam as chairman and former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, as deputy chairman.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the appointments were announced on Thursday by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communications for the council, and Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, with Senator Austin Akobundu named Director-General and Campaign Manager, responsible for coordinating daily operations.
According to the statement, the structure comprises six Deputy Directors-General overseeing operational directorates, alongside 30 directors assigned specific portfolios. Veteran journalist Dele Momodu was appointed to lead the Media and Communications Directorate, while former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, was named to head Contact and Mobilisation.
Atiku described the council as a deliberately lean, people-driven organisation reflecting the economic hardship facing Nigerians, insisting it would not be “a bloated campaign built around titles, privileges and political patronage.”
The campaign lists Atiku as presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi as running mate, and Senator David Mark as ADC National Chairman. Meanwhile, economist Kingsley Moghalu publicly rejected an appointment to the campaign’s policy team, citing his non-partisan stance since quitting partisan politics in 2022.
