Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has been hospitalised after collapsing at the club’s training ground on Friday, October 23, 2026.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the 40-year-old Belgian collapsed while watching the club’s second team train at the Säbener Straße headquarters. He was taken to hospital by ambulance and is said to be in a stable condition.
According to a club statement, Kompany had been suffering from a viral infection over the past week, which had already forced him to miss training sessions and pre-match media duties. He had also been nursing a hip injury that impaired his mobility. Despite this, he was on the touchline for Bayern’s 2-2 Champions League draw with Arsenal on Wednesday.
“Vincent Kompany had to seek medical treatment on Friday after collapsing during training for FC Bayern’s amateurs,” the club said. “Kompany will undergo a thorough examination in the hospital and remain in medical care. For the time being, his coaching staff will manage training and match operations”.
CDA News Nigeria reports that Bayern’s board member for sport, Max Eberl, said Kompany’s health is the club’s top priority. “Vinnie will receive all the necessary medical care and support, and all the time he needs,” Eberl said. “His coaching team, in whom we have complete confidence, will take over his duties”.
Bayern Munich are scheduled to face Freiburg in the Bundesliga on Sunday, with Kompany’s assistants set to oversee the fixture.
