Bishop Kukah Not in Line for Vice Presidency – Columnist Debunks Report

A columnist has dismissed as “misinformation” recent media reports suggesting Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah is being considered as a possible vice presidential replacement for Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 elections.

In an opinion piece, the writer argued that the story fits a pattern of pre-election fabrications aimed at stirring religious and political sentiments.

The column emphasized that Kukah, a Catholic bishop and public intellectual, has consistently stayed out of partisan politics and is focused on providing intellectual solutions to national challenges.

It also noted that despite criticisms, the current Muslim-Muslim ticket has fostered relative equity in appointments and governance.
