“Bring Kyari dead or alive!” Oshiomole vs Ex-NNPC CFO: “NNPC is a house of thieves”

There was a dramatic scene at the National Assembly on Wednesday as the Senate Public Accounts Committee descended into chaos during the ongoing probe into the alleged missing N210 trillion at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) .

Senator Adams Oshiomhole (Edo North) was captured in a viral video engaging in a heated verbal exchange with a former Chief Financial Officer of the NNPCL, Dr. Umar Ajiya .

The drama began when Ajiya attempted to defend the corporation’s record, suggesting that criticism was fueled by those who wanted their children employed by the NNPC.

Enraged, Oshiomhole erupted, shouting: “NNPC has no reputation. Your reputation is for fraud. Yes, because it’s a house of thieves, and they want their children to benefit from it!” .

The outburst prompted Ajiya to fire back, denying the allegations of missing funds and retorting: “We are not thieves” . The session became so rowdy that the Committee Chairman, Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo, had to repeatedly intervene to restore order .

CDA News Nigeria athered that the committee did not stop at the shouting match. It officially ordered the arrest of the immediate past Group Chief Executive Officer of the NNPCL, Mele Kyari .

Oshiomhole, demanding Kyari’s presence, stated: “Bring Mele Kyari here, dead or alive… even if he is dead, we want to see the body. He must account for his actions” .

This followed Kyari’s repeated failure to honor legislative summons, with excuses that he was hospitalized abroad .
