The City Boy Movement has officially launched its Abia State chapter, with leaders urging Igbo youths to embrace the friendship and partnership extended by Barr. Seyi Tinubu, founder of the movement and son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu .
At the inaugural meeting held on February 18, 2026, in Umuahia, State Patron Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji (Ikuku Abia) and Director Don Lulu addressed members drawn from across the 17 local government areas of Abia State .
Both leaders emphasized the need for South-East youth to actively participate in national political discourse, arguing that sensible partnerships like the one Seyi Tinubu offers remain the most viable option to address longstanding concerns of Ndi Igbo .
According to them, now is the time for the younger generation to adopt new approaches, including pursuing the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu through friendship, bridge-building, and constructive dialogue rather than confronting the system on social media .
The leaders clarified that “City Boy” has no plural form, as it is President Tinubu’s nickname from his Lagos days, similar to “Lagos boy.” They dismissed critics creating “village boy” counter-movements, suggesting such criticism inadvertently acknowledges that while Tinubu developed Lagos into a city, their own governors left their states as villages .
The Abia chapter is described as a purely APC platform designed to galvanize young people to deliver overwhelming votes for President Tinubu’s reelection in 2027 .
Orji and Lulu affirmed the movement focuses on youth empowerment beyond gift items, extending to securing federal government jobs, contracts, and appointments for young people in Abia State and the South-East .
