Don’t Deny Party Tickets to Loyal Reps, Ugochinyere Urges NDC Leadership

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a prominent opposition lawmaker, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, has appealed to the National Democratic Council (NDC) leadership to ensure fairness in the distribution of party tickets.

In a statement issued Monday in Abuja, Ugochinyere urges NDC leadership not to deny loyal reps party tickets, warning that sidelining committed members who have stood by the party through difficult times could trigger internal crises and electoral disaster.

“Loyalty must be rewarded, not punished. Denying tickets to dedicated representatives who have laboured for the party’s survival will be a grave mistake,” Ugochinyere said.

He argued that some party leaders are allegedly planning to impose candidates over incumbent lawmakers who have consistently defended the NDC’s mandate in the National Assembly.

The lawmaker called for transparent primaries and an independent appeals process to prevent “money politics” from overriding the will of the people.

The NDC leadership has yet to officially respond to the allegations. Political analysts say the warning highlights growing internal tensions within the opposition camp.
