Economist Proposes Revenue Regeneration Corporation to Fast-Track Nigeria’s Diversification

Economic development expert Ja’afaru Sa’ad has called on President Bola Tinubu to establish a National Revenue Regeneration and Financial Corporation (NRRFC) to fast-track economic diversification and reduce Nigeria’s dependence on crude oil earnings.

In an open memorandum to the president, Sa’ad warned that Nigeria’s current governance model is unsustainable, especially with the population projected to reach 450 million by 2050.

He proposed that the NRRFC serve as a national commercial command structure to restructure and revitalise underperforming government institutions into profitable revenue-generating corporations.

Sa’ad cited examples from Saudi Arabia, South Korea, China, and India where similar strategies transformed public assets into engines of growth and employment.

He stressed the need for “radical commercial re-engineering” to protect Nigeria’s economic sovereignty and achieve its diversification targets by 2035.
