Ekiti Police Arraign Four Over Alleged Attack on Monarch, Damage to N25m SUV

The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned four suspects before a Magistrate’s Court in Ado-Ekiti over their alleged involvement in a failed attack on the Ọlọja-Ọwa of Ọwatẹdo-Ekiti, Oba David Olawumi Olofinlade, and the unlawful destruction of his Lexus RX 350 SUV valued at N25 million.

CDA News Nigeria reports that the defendants—Makanju Olawale, Ajibola Dada, Olaoye Dada and Ewe Moyinoluwa—were arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, assault occasioning harm, malicious damage and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace. The defendants pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

According to the charge sheet, the alleged offences occurred on June 23, 2026, at Ipoti-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area and are punishable under the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The prosecution, led by ASP Oriyomi Akinwale, urged the court to consider the seriousness of the alleged offences, arguing that such acts could lead to unrest in the community. He also alleged that some of the defendants had been involved in a similar case in 2020 and urged the court to allow the law to take its full course.

The matter was adjourned for further proceedings, while the defendants continue to enjoy the constitutional presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
