Election Observers Praise INEC’s Preparedness For Anambra Poll

AWKA – A coalition of election observers has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its level of preparedness ahead of Saturday’s Anambra State governorship election.

The observers, speaking at a press conference in Awka on Friday, expressed satisfaction with the transparent distribution of non-sensitive materials and the deployment of over 60,000 security personnel to ensure a peaceful exercise.

Augustine Okafor, Coordinator of the Grassroots Development Centre for Peace and Social Justice, stated, “The political atmosphere in the state remains largely peaceful, with no major incidents of thuggery or violence reported during campaigns.”

The coalition also urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to take decisive action against vote-buying, which they described as a threat to Nigeria’s democracy.
