EX-ABIA LAWMAKER APUGO DUMPS ADC FOR APC

UMUAHIA, NIGERIA – A former member of the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Chukwudi Apugo, has officially defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), boosting the ruling party’s ranks in the state.

Apugo made the declaration on Sunday at Nkata Ibeku, Umuahia, during a visit by Abia APC stakeholders and executives who had come to convince him to join the party. The former lawmaker cited the progressive vision of the APC and the leadership of President Bola Tinubu as key factors in his decision.

“I have carefully considered the direction of the APC under President Tinubu and the party’s commitment to national development. I believe this is where I can best serve my people,” Apugo stated.

The defection was received with enthusiasm by APC leaders in attendance, who described Apugo as a valuable political asset. They expressed confidence that his entry would strengthen the party’s grassroots mobilization ahead of future elections.

Apugo’s move comes amid ongoing political realignments in Abia State, with the APC aiming to make significant inroads ahead of the 2027 general elections. The ADC is yet to issue an official statement regarding the defection.
