Gunmen Kill OSPAC Commander, Three Women in Rivers Attack

Omoku, Rivers State — Gunmen suspected to be cultists have killed the zonal commander of the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area Security Planning and Advisory Committee (OSPAC), Ozomela Stephen Nwaocha, and three women in Omoku, the headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

CDA News Nigeria reports that the attack occurred on Tuesday evening along Oba Road, where the OSPAC commander was said to be relaxing outside his residence with the women before the assailants opened fire.

According to eyewitness accounts, the three women killed in the attack included the commander’s sister. The gunmen reportedly fled the scene immediately after carrying out the shooting, leaving residents in shock and panic.

“The attackers stormed the area and opened fire on the victims before escaping. Security agencies have commenced investigations to identify and apprehend those responsible,” a security source said.

The incident has heightened concerns over insecurity in the area, with residents calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to curb cult-related violence and protect lives and property.

Police authorities are expected to commence a full investigation into the killings, while the bodies of the victims have reportedly been evacuated. No arrests had been announced as of the time of filing this report.
