‘I Won’t Betray Your Trust’ — Kwara PDP Guber Candidate Kale Kawu Pledges Loyalty After Saraki’s Consensus Announcement

Newly emerged Kwara State PDP governorship candidate, Engr. Kale Kawu, has made a solemn and passionate pledge to the people of Kwara State and his party stakeholders, declaring that he will never betray the enormous trust reposed in him following his emergence as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

Kawu’s emergence was announced by former Senate President and Kwara PDP leader, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, following extensive consultations with party stakeholders and all leading governorship aspirants who graciously stepped down in the supreme interest of the party and the state.

In his announcement, Saraki declared: “I am pleased to announce that, after extensive consultations with stakeholders of the Kwara PDP and our leading gubernatorial aspirants, we have arrived at a consensus candidate to fly the flag of our great party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election. That candidate is Engr. Kale Kawu.”

Accepting the mandate with deep humility and a firm sense of responsibility, Kawu told party stakeholders, delegates, and the people of Kwara State that the confidence and sacrifice of those who stepped down in his favour will never be taken for granted.
“I will not betray the trust you have reposed in me. This mandate is a sacred responsibility and I intend to honour it with every fibre of my being,” he declared.

Kawu, who hails from Ilorin South Local Government and recently retired as a Director at the Rural Electrification Agency, is a seasoned technocrat, administrator, and political strategist whose emergence sets the stage for a two-horse race between the PDP and the APC’s candidate, Speaker Salihu Yakubu Danladi, in the 2027 Kwara governorship contest.

Political analysts believe the PDP’s decision to close ranks around Kawu may strengthen the party’s internal stability ahead of the election, particularly after years of defections and factional disagreements within the Kwara PDP.
