The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has issued a formal apology to Band-A customers across Ogun, Oyo and Kwara states following a wave of power disruptions on Monday, CDA News Nigeria reports.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that several feeders in the affected states fell short of the mandated daily supply hours, with some recording zero hours of electricity while others managed between 12 and 19 hours before service was interrupted.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, IBEDC attributed the failures to a combination of technical faults, induced load shedding, forced grid shutdowns and disconnections linked to non-payment by some customers.
The company said the disruptions stemmed from overcurrent and earth faults on parts of its network, alongside system load management strategies deployed to balance demand with available supply.
Among the worst-hit feeders were the Water Works (Ojere) 33kV line serving the Arakanga Water Scheme and Iberekodo in Abeokuta, the Railway (Papa) 33kV feeder supplying the Papalanto Train Station, and the Moniya Railway 33kV line serving the Moniya Train Station in Ibadan, all of which recorded no supply.
IBEDC said restoration efforts were already underway on most affected lines, though some feeders remained out of service pending resolution of outstanding disconnection issues.
The company apologised for the inconvenience caused and appealed to customers for patience as it worked to normalise supply across the affected franchise areas.
