Ikwuano LG Directs Ikwuano TV Global to Drop ‘Ikwuano TV’ Name Within 14 Days

The Ikwuano Local Government Council has directed the Chief Executive Officer of Ikwuano TV Global, Mr. Kelvin Orji, to discontinue the use of the name “Ikwuano TV” within 14 days or face possible legal action.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that the directive was conveyed in a letter dated July 3, 2026, signed by the Executive Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Area, Dr. Anthony N. Nwaubani.

According to the letter, the council expressed concern that the name “Ikwuano TV” could create the impression that the media organisation is owned, operated, or officially affiliated with the Ikwuano Local Government Council.

The council stated that it had previously advised the media entrepreneur to discontinue the use of the name. However, rather than changing it entirely, the platform reportedly adopted the name “Ikwuano TV Global,” which the council said still retained the original identity capable of causing public misunderstanding.

The letter maintained that continued use of the name could lead members of the public to believe that news reports and information published by the platform are official communications from the local government authority.

The council consequently directed Mr. Orji to remove “Ikwuano TV” from the business name within 14 days of receiving the notice or risk legal proceedings.

CDA News Nigeria reports that the letter was delivered to the Chief Executive Officer of Ikwuano TV Global by the Chief of Staff to the Executive Mayor. As of the time of filing this report, Mr. Kelvin Orji had not publicly responded to the directive.
