The Imo State Police Command has announced the arrest of 25 suspects linked to various violent crimes, including the killing of traditional rulers and armed robbery operations across the state.
According to a statement by Police Spokesperson Henry Okoye, the arrests followed coordinated operations targeting criminal networks. Among those detained are individuals allegedly involved in the 2021 murders of two traditional rulers in Njaba Local Government Area—HRH Eze Sampson Osunwa of Ihebinowere Autonomous Community and HRH Eze Durueburuo of Okwudo Autonomous Community.
Recovered items include four assault rifles, ammunition, stolen vehicles, motorcycles, and 35 bags of suspected cannabis sativa. In a separate operation, police intercepted a drug consignment in Oguta LGA and arrested a wanted gang leader linked to further killings, including a pastor and a pregnant woman.
All suspects are in custody for investigation and will be arraigned in court.
The command reassured the public of its commitment to tackling insecurity in Imo State.
