AWKA – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 56.47% of results from Saturday’s Anambra State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV) as vote counting continues across the state.
The update, confirmed on INEC’s website at 4:18 p.m. on election day, represents progress in the commission’s effort to ensure transparency in the electoral process through its digital result viewing system.
The upload comes after a day of voting that saw mixed voter turnout and reports of vote buying in some areas, though election officials maintained that voting proceeded peacefully in most polling units.
Sixteen candidates contested the election, including incumbent Governor Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, who is seeking re-election against prominent challengers such as Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress.
The IReV portal allows the public to view scanned copies of result sheets from polling units as they are uploaded, providing real-time access to election outcomes.
