Iranian Civilians Used as Human Shields on Bridges Amid US, Israeli Pressure

Tensions escalated in Iran as civilians were reportedly mobilized to form human chains on strategic bridges across the country, a move widely interpreted as an attempt by the regime to protect critical infrastructure amid mounting pressure from the United States and Israel.

Footage from the White Bridge in Ahvaz shows large crowds linking arms and stretching a giant Iranian flag across the structure. Similar scenes were reported on older bridges in Dezful and Ilam, with civilians chanting slogans in support of the regime.

The demonstrations come in the wake of targeted strikes on Iranian bridges, rail lines, and other infrastructure by U.S. and Israeli forces, aimed at pressuring the regime to reopen the Strait of Hormuz for international shipping.

President Donald Trump issued stark warnings, threatening additional attacks on power plants and bridges if compliance is not achieved.

Observers have noted that using civilians as protective barriers places ordinary Iranians at risk while highlighting vulnerabilities in the regime’s strategy.

Human rights advocates have expressed concern over the safety of participants who are being used to shield state assets.
The standoff underscores the intensifying geopolitical confrontation in the region, with global attention focused on Iran’s strategic waterways and the potential humanitarian consequences of escalating military actions.
