Chika Ishionwu Pledges Inclusive Leadership Through Elder Advisory Council
The APC candidate for the Ikwuano State House of Assembly, Ugwumba Chika Ishionwu, has pledged to establish an Elder Advisory Council if elected, saying regular consultation with community stakeholders will strengthen representation and ensure development reaches every part of Ikwuano.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the proposal was contained in a statement issued by the Media Unit of the Chika Ishionwu Campaign Organization. According to the statement, the advisory council would comprise respected traditional rulers, youth representatives, women leaders, market leaders, and other key stakeholders from across the local government area.
The campaign said the council would meet every two months to assess development, identify pressing community needs, and provide feedback aimed at improving constituency representation. It added that the initiative is intended to ensure governance remains people-centred and responsive to the needs of all communities.
The statement further noted that every clan in Ikwuano has unique priorities and challenges, stressing that no community should be overlooked. It said the proposed advisory structure would promote transparency, accountability, and prudent use of constituency resources while supporting projects that deliver long-term benefits.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the proposal forms part of the campaign promises being presented by candidates ahead of the 2027 general election. As the election draws closer, voters are expected to evaluate the manifestos, policy proposals, and leadership qualities of all aspirants before making their choice at the polls.
