PORT HARCOURT, RIVERS STATE — Comrade Dorcas Eberechi Isaac has joined the global community to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026, paying a special tribute to her beloved mother, Nkechi Isaac, while also hailing the resilience, sacrifices, and contributions of all Nigerian women to nation-building .
In a heartfelt message personally signed and released on Sunday, the young activist and daughter of Late Pastor Isaac Obichukwu described her mother as her greatest inspiration and a shining example of the strength and grace that define Nigerian womanhood .
“To my dearest Mummy, Nkechi Isaac: you are my first hero, my strongest supporter, and my greatest teacher. Your sacrifices, love, and unwavering strength have shaped the woman I am today. On this International Women’s Day, I celebrate you and thank God for blessing me with a mother like you,” Dorcas wrote .
She extended her tribute to all Nigerian women, recognizing their indispensable roles as mothers, daughters, sisters, leaders, and nation-builders who continue to break barriers and uplift society .
“Nigerian women are the backbone of our families and our nation. From the markets to the boardrooms, from classrooms to hospital wards, from rural farms to legislative chambers — women are making invaluable contributions every single day. Your resilience in the face of adversity is nothing short of extraordinary,” she stated .
Comrade Dorcas specifically acknowledged women who continue to fight for justice, equity, and the liberation of the oppressed, drawing attention to the unique burdens carried by women in conflict zones and marginalized communities .
She called on governments at all levels to prioritize policies that protect women’s rights, ensure their safety, and create opportunities for economic empowerment and political participation .
“As we celebrate today, let us remember that the struggle for gender equality is far from over. We must accelerate action to break down barriers, end violence against women, and create a Nigeria where every girl can dream without limits and every woman can thrive without fear,” Dorcas added .
International Women’s Day 2026 is celebrated under the global theme “Accelerate Action,” focusing on advancing gender equality and empowering women and girls worldwide .
