JAMB Dismisses Viral 394 UTME Score of Cross River Candidate as Fake

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dismissed as entirely fake a viral result slip circulating online, which claimed that a candidate from Cross River State scored 394 out of 400 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) .

The purported result, shared on X by a user identified as @Onsogbu, alleged that the candidate, Okon Winniefred Sampson, scored 96 in Use of English, 99 in Biology, 98 in Chemistry, and 99 in Physics .

In a statement issued on Sunday, JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin said the document bears clear signs of fabrication and urged the public to disregard it.

Benjamin explained that UTME results are currently restricted to a view-only format and are not designed for printing or circulation in the manner seen in the viral document. The Board noted that the layout of the slip does not match its official result template .

He further pointed out that the registration number displayed on the fake document does not conform to JAMB’s standard system-generated format, noting the irregular pattern “20269” as a clear red flag .

“Secondly, the Board’s registration numbers are system-generated and do not follow the pattern ‘20269’ as seen on the fake slip. There are several other inconsistencies that, even at a glance, expose the result as fraudulent,” the statement read .

JAMB advised the public to rely only on information released through its verified communication channels and reiterated that all UTME results remain view-only at this stage .

This incident follows recent reports of JAMB arresting candidates and parents for manipulating UTME results using artificial intelligence and other electronic tools .
