ABUJA — The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new online system allowing candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions to verify and upload their O’Level results from home, eliminating the need for physical visits to Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for this purpose .
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the initiative, announced in a statement on Monday by the Board’s Acting Director of Public Affairs, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, represents a significant shift in JAMB’s service delivery. The move is part of the Board’s “renewed commitment to customer-oriented and technology-driven service delivery” under its sixth Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, who assumed office in August 2026 .
CDA News Nigeria reports that the new system integrates JAMB’s e-Facility platform with examination bodies, beginning with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) . This allows candidates’ O’Level results to be verified directly against the records of the issuing bodies before being downloaded into their JAMB profiles. The Board stated that the arrangement would address challenges associated with manual uploads, including misplaced or mixed-up paper results, submission of unverified or fraudulent results, and errors in subject and grade entry .
Under the new system, candidates are required to first visit the designated result verification portal (buyresultsverificationcode.ng) and provide their National Identification Number (NIN) . After selecting their examination body and sittings, and making payment through the available gateway, they must provide their examination details to generate a Verification Code .
For the second and final stage, candidates are required to send “VERIFY” followed by the Verification Code to either 55019 or 66019 . The verified result will then be uploaded, and the candidate will receive a notification confirming the submission .
The Board said the verification service would provide a particularly useful alternative during periods when CBT centres experience heavy patronage, long queues or network-related difficulties . It added that it would continue to strengthen collaboration with examination bodies and other government agencies while deploying technology to simplify its processes and improve the overall candidate experience .
