The new policy eliminates the burden of repetitive verification fees for candidates who require their certificates to be authenticated multiple times for admission or employment.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have agreed to scrap the multiple charges for O’Level verification, replacing them with a single, one-off fee of N4,000 for candidates requiring certificate authentication .
The new policy, which takes immediate effect, eliminates the burden of repetitive verification fees for candidates who require their certificates to be authenticated multiple times for admission, employment, or other official purposes.
According to a statement by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the agreement was reached on Monday after a meeting between officials of both organisations. The meeting resolved to harmonise the verification process, making it easier and more affordable for candidates.
“We have agreed to put an end to the multiple charges for verification of O’Level certificates. Candidates will now pay a one-off fee of N4,000 for the service, regardless of how many times they need their certificates verified,” Benjamin said.
The new policy represents a significant relief for candidates, who previously had to pay separate fees each time they needed their O’Level results verified by JAMB and WAEC. For candidates who require their certificates to be authenticated multiple times for admission, employment, or other official purposes, the savings will be substantial.
The announcement has been welcomed by parents, students, and education stakeholders, who have long called for a more streamlined and cost-effective verification process.
