The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested seven suspected members of a cattle-rustling syndicate operating across Garki, Jahun and Miga Local Government Areas of the state, recovering eight cows and two vehicles.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, noting that the suspects, aged between 20 and 40, were apprehended by operatives during routine patrol operations following actionable intelligence and timely information from vigilant members of the public.
According to the command, operatives intercepted two operational vehicles suspected to be used by the syndicate, a dark blue Golf and an ash-coloured Golf 3 Wagon, alongside the recovery of the eight rustled cows. The arrests and recoveries followed sustained intelligence gathering, community engagement and intensified patrols in identified flashpoints across the state.
Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP Tijjani Murtala, commended the officers involved for their vigilance, courage and professionalism, while also appreciating members of the public whose timely information contributed to the successful operation.
The command said the seven suspects remain in custody and are assisting investigators with useful information, as efforts continue to identify other alleged syndicate members and recover additional rustled livestock.
