Mass Defection: Labour Party Members in Oboro Ward 2 Dump Party, Join APC in Ikwuano

In a significant political development, members of the Labour Party in Oboro Ward 2, Ikwuano Local Government Area, have formally defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), dealing a major blow to the Labour Party’s grassroots structure in the area ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The mass defection, which was witnessed by the APC LGA Chairman, LGA Secretary, and Ward Chairmen drawn from all 10 wards across the local government, was coordinated under the platform of the Chika Ishionwu Campaign Organisation — a growing political movement steadily reshaping the political landscape of Ikwuano.

In a statement released by the Hon. Ugwumba Chika Ishionwu , the development was described as a clear and powerful sign that the people of Ikwuano are embracing purposeful leadership, unity, and a shared vision of progress under the APC.

“I am now more convinced than ever that the future is truly bright for Ikwuano,” the statement read.

The Campaign Organisation further declared that the defection is only the beginning, revealing that the party is set to take even bolder steps in the coming days to fully collapse the remaining Labour Party structure in Ikwuano into the APC — consolidating one strong and united political front for the progress of the people.

Political observers in Ikwuano say the growing momentum behind the Chika Ishionwu movement is fast repositioning the APC as the dominant political force in the local government ahead of 2027.
