Niger Delta Monarch Ateke Tom Urges Insurgents to “Sheathe Swords” for National Peace

PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria – King Ateke Tom, the Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom in Rivers State, has made a passionate appeal to those behind Nigeria’s insecurity crisis to “sheathe their swords” and allow peace to prevail across the nation.

The former Niger Delta agitator turned monarch delivered his message during celebrations marking his 8th coronation anniversary, calling for national unity and declaring that “tribalism has been erased from the dictionary” in contemporary Nigeria.

“Nothing is permanent. Whatever comes will always go,” King Ateke stated, addressing attendees that included representatives from Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba communities. “I call on everyone, North, South, East, and West, to shun violence and embrace peace. We must learn to live together.”

The Sekuro of Niger Delta emphasized that every Nigerian has the right to live and own property anywhere in the country without discrimination, urging citizens to “let love reign” as the only way to break national barriers.
