Niger State to Resume Gratuity Payment, Says No Pension Arrears Owed – Gov Bago

Niger State Governor Umar Bago has announced that the state government does not owe any monthly pension arrears and has set up a committee to resume gratuity payments for both state and local government retirees.

Speaking during a meeting with labour and pension union leaders in Minna, Bago explained that gratuity payments had earlier commenced in batches but were paused due to verification anomalies.

He directed a committee comprising the deputy governor, pension officials, NLC, and NUP leaders to produce a clean, verified list of retirees so payments can resume promptly.

The governor also encouraged pensioners to engage in agriculture through the state’s Niger Foods initiative for additional income.
