KADUNA/ZAMFARA — Nigerian troops have recorded fresh gains in the fight against banditry, neutralising two bandits and arresting seven terror suspects during coordinated operations in Kaduna and Zamfara states.
In a statement issued by the Director of Defence Media Operations, the military confirmed that the offensives were part of ongoing clearance operations targeting insurgent hideouts across the North-West.
In Kaduna, troops engaged bandits in a fierce gun battle, killing two and recovering weapons and ammunition. In Zamfara, intelligence-led raids resulted in the arrest of seven suspected collaborators and logistics suppliers linked to terror networks.
The military said the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and would be prosecuted accordingly. Troops also destroyed several makeshift camps used by the criminals.
The operations come amid renewed pressure on security forces to curb the wave of kidnappings and attacks plaguing communities in both states. Residents have praised the military’s recent tactical successes but urged sustained efforts to restore lasting peace.
Commanders reaffirmed their commitment to flushing out remnants of bandit groups from the region.
