The family of a Nigerian woman, Christiana Nwosu, has launched a fundraising campaign to repatriate her remains after she reportedly died of cardiac arrest while visiting the United Kingdom, CDA News Nigeria reports.
CDA News gathered from the report that PUNCH Metro learnt of the development on Monday from a GoFundMe appeal signed by Chijioke Metuka on behalf of the Nwosu family. According to Metuka, Nwosu died on July 19, 2026, leaving her children and loved ones devastated by the sudden loss.
Metuka described the deceased as a woman whose warmth had left an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew her. The family said its greatest wish was to honour her memory by returning her body to Nigeria for burial among her extended family and ancestral roots.
The appeal indicated that repatriating her remains from the UK would cost about £10,000, covering funeral director services, documentation, air freight and burial expenses in Nigeria.
The development comes months after another Nigerian family, that of Oluranti Akinyemi, sought public support to repatriate her remains after she died in the UK shortly after arriving for her son’s graduation ceremony.
Cases of Nigerians abroad suffering sudden cardiac emergencies have continued to draw attention to the financial burden of repatriating remains, with families frequently turning to public fundraising platforms for support.
CDA News Nigeria extends condolences to the Nwosu family.
