The immediate past Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, has issued a firm rebuttal to allegations reportedly made against him by the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency, Hon. Obi Aguocha.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Orji declared that no court of law has ever found him guilty of any criminal or financial wrongdoing, contrary to what he described as baseless insinuations from Aguocha’s camp.
“Let it be known that no court in Nigeria or anywhere in the world has convicted me of any offence. I challenge anyone with evidence to the contrary to come forward,” Orji said.
The former Speaker accused Aguocha of engaging in a campaign of calumny to distract from his poor performance in office, insisting that character assassination cannot replace a missing scorecard of constituency projects.
Orji advised the incumbent lawmaker to focus on delivering dividends of democracy to Ikwuano/Umuahia rather than attempting to drag a political opponent’s name through the mud.
Aguocha has yet to respond to Orji’s latest statement as of press time.
