NSCEA Applauds Netanyahu’s Call to End Attacks on Christians in Nigeria, Echoes Trump’s Past Stance

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA) has commended Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his strong Christmas message demanding an immediate end to attacks on Christians in Nigeria.

In a press release on December 25, 2025, the apex Christian body praised Netanyahu’s “courageous and forthright declaration” as a timely moral intervention for persecuted communities. The Council highlighted that his statement aligns with earlier condemnations by former U.S. President Donald J. Trump, who had repeatedly spoken against the killing and intimidation of Christians in Nigeria.

The NSCEA described both leaders’ interventions as part of a growing international consensus that violence targeting Christians must no longer be ignored.

The Council called on the Nigerian government to strengthen protection for all citizens and ensure justice for victims of faith-based violence. It also urged the global community to move beyond statements toward concrete actions that promote peace and accountability.

Signed by Bishop Professor Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, the release emphasized that such international attention should mark a turning point toward peace and dignity for all Nigerians.
