NURTW Member Shot Dead at Abijo Bus Stop in Lagos, Police Begin Investigation

A member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Kamoru Omokoye, has been shot dead at the Abijo Bus Stop in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State.

CDA News Nigeria reports, citing press reports, that the attackers were suspected cultists. Police said the gunmen fled the scene in an unregistered Lexus RX 350 and that an investigation had commenced.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that preliminary accounts have raised questions about the attackers’ identities and motives. The reports did not say what time the shooting took place or give details of any other victims.

The killing has drawn attention to violence around transport parks in Lagos. Reports said the area has seen cult-related killings in recent times.

At the time of filing, no arrest had been announced, and the police had not released further details of the investigation. The “suspected cultist” description is an unconfirmed claim from press reports, and the union had not commented.

CDA News Nigeria will update this story as more information emerges.
