The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a man identified only as Kola, following an allegation that he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old boy.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Oloseyi Babaseyi, the case was formally reported at the Adigbe Police Division on Monday evening by the teenager, who was accompanied by his parents.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the boy alleged he was assaulted by the suspect on three separate occasions in January, and that he was warned to keep the incidents secret.
Following the report, the teenager was taken for a medical examination at a hospital in the Adigbe area, while detectives opened an investigation into the matter.
The police clarified that the case only came to their attention after Monday’s formal complaint.
The suspect remains at large. The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has reportedly directed detectives to intensify efforts to trace and arrest him.
The Command described the case as being handled with urgency and sensitivity, and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting children and other vulnerable persons across the state.
CDA News Nigeria will provide updates as the investigation progresses.
