In a significant move to equip youths with future-ready skills, the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Mbata, has sponsored a Cybersecurity Capacity-Building Training Programme for 200 students from across Igboland.
The sponsorship was announced by the Congress of Igbo Leaders UK following a career seminar held on November 30, 2025. The program aims to empower Igbo youths with globally relevant digital skills and strengthen their participation in the technology sector.
The 200 training slots have been allocated across several states, with Enugu State already having filled its quota. Remaining slots are available in Anambra (24), Abia (26), Rivers (30), Ebonyi (28), Imo (16), and Delta (28) states. Selection will be coordinated with state leaders to ensure fair representation across senatorial zones.
The physical training is scheduled to take place at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) for three months, starting in February 2026. Participants will also have the option to join lectures via a dedicated online portal. Further application details are expected to be released shortly.
