OK Movement Akwa Ibom Coordinator Elijah Noah Arrested by Police in Uyo on Independence Day

Elijah Noah, the Akwa Ibom State coordinator of the OK Movement, was arrested by armed police officers in Uyo on Thursday, 1 October 2026, Nigeria’s Independence Day.

CDA News Nigeria reports that the OK Movement mobilises support for a Peter Obi–Rabiu Kwankwaso presidential ticket.

CDA News Nigeria gathered from videos and statements by movement affiliates, including Peter Obi’s former campaign photographer, that Noah was detained while checking the designated starting point for a planned supporters’ march.

Police had earlier directed the organisers to reschedule the event. The reasons given were security concerns and the risk of clashes with a PDP rally already approved for the same period.

Supporters also claim that officers fired tear gas at those who gathered. This claim has not been independently verified by CDA News Nigeria.

No official police statement on charges against Noah has been widely reported at this stage. It is also unclear whether he remains in custody.

The incident comes as political activity builds ahead of the 2027 general elections. It also raises questions about how security agencies manage competing political gatherings in the same city.

CDA News Nigeria reached no police spokesperson at the time of publishing and will update this report as verified details emerge.
