Ondo Police Arrest Mother, Son for Alleged Money Ritual Plot

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 53-year-old mother and her 28-year-old son for allegedly attempting to use a 10-year-old boy for money rituals in Ile-Oluji.

According to DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the command’s spokesperson, operatives acted on credible intelligence and a tip-off from a concerned citizen on December 27, leading to the swift rescue of the child and the arrest of the suspects, identified as Maria and Adewale.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Maria conspired with her son to engage a herbalist for the ritual. Both suspects are currently in custody and have confessed to the crime.

The state Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, praised the operatives for their professionalism and urged parents to instill values of hard work and integrity in their children, discouraging the “get-rich-quick” mentality.

The rescued boy has been taken to a hospital for medical attention, while the suspects will be charged to court after investigation.
