Abuja, Nigeria — Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has clarified that his office approved ₦780 million, not ₦1 billion, for church outreach programmes, dismissing reports suggesting a higher allocation.
CDA News Nigeria reports that Kalu made the clarification while responding to public discussions surrounding the funding, insisting that the figure being circulated in some reports was inaccurate.
According to the Deputy Speaker, the approved amount was ₦780 million, and the intervention was intended to support church outreach activities in line with approved objectives. He urged the public to rely on verified information and avoid spreading misleading claims.
“My office allocated ₦780 million, not ₦1 billion, for the church outreach programme. It is important that the public is guided by the correct facts,” Kalu said.
The clarification comes amid growing public interest in government spending and constituency-related projects. Observers say transparency in public expenditure remains essential to strengthening accountability and public confidence in governance.
The Deputy Speaker’s office is expected to provide further details where necessary as discussions on the allocation continue.
