Suspended Foundation Trustees Sue CAC Over Interim Management

Suspended members of the Board of Trustees of the Kaduna-based Al-Manar Education and Development Foundation have filed a lawsuit against the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) over its decision to appoint an interim management team for the organization.

In a suit filed at the Federal High Court in Kaduna, the trustees argued that the CAC suspended them on September 10, 2025, without prior notice or an opportunity to be heard, thereby violating their constitutional right to fair hearing.

They are seeking an interlocutory injunction to restrain the interim managers from overseeing the foundation’s affairs pending the determination of the substantive suit.

The applicants also raised concerns about alleged conflicts of interest and procedural irregularities in the CAC’s actions, including attempts to change the foundation’s bank signatories without judicial oversight.

The CAC has maintained that its actions were within its regulatory mandate to ensure legal compliance but has not yet issued a detailed response to the specific allegations.
