OSOGBO — The Coordinator of the City Boys Movement, Bashir Ahmad, has admitted that the Osun State governorship election is a close contest, while expressing optimism that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will emerge victorious.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that Ahmad made the remarks on his verified X handle on Saturday, as results from the election continue to trickle in. The former presidential aide noted that the final margin would be much narrower than many people expect.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the City Boys Movement has mobilised its National Headquarters in Abuja to complement the efforts of the APC Situation Room in Osogbo. According to Ahmad, the movement will closely monitor the process, support the party’s agents with intelligence, and ensure that every vote cast by the people is properly protected and accounted for.
“We will not stand by and watch any attempt to undermine the will of the people or manipulate the process,” Ahmad stated. “The people of Osun have the right to decide, through their votes, the direction they want for their state. Let the people’s mandate prevail. Let every vote count. Let democracy win,” he added.
The incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party is seeking re-election against APC’s Bola Oyebamiji and ADC’s Najeem Salaam. Early results have shown the Accord Party winning the first polling units, including the polling unit of former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who had endorsed the APC candidate.
