PDP BoT Chairman Declares Ibadan Convention Illegal, Says Attendees Not Party Members

ABUJA – The Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, has declared that the alleged party convention held in Ibadan is illegal and unauthorized.

In a strong statement issued on Tuesday, Ohuabunwa clarified that those present at the Ibadan gathering are not legitimate members of the PDP, emphasizing that the party remains one united family.

“The alleged convention held in Ibadan is illegal. Those present there are not members of PDP. PDP is one big family and there is no such convention taking place,” the BoT Chairman stated categorically.

This declaration comes amid deepening internal crisis within the opposition party, with multiple factions claiming legitimacy and scheduling parallel meetings.

Ohuabunwa’s statement represents the official position of the party’s highest advisory body and is expected to escalate the ongoing power struggle within the PDP.

The BoT Chairman’s intervention aims to reinforce the party’s official structure and prevent further fragmentation as the PDP grapples with mass defections to the ruling APC.
